The Tour de Wakatipu was born out of the idea of having a fun challenging mountain bike event set in the Wakatipu Basin that links two rivers and two lakes, and using some of the new tracks developed by the Queenstown Trails Trust.
On offer is a 24ks fun ride for the recreational rider or a 32ks race for the elite and sport racers.
Starting from Millbrook resort, and ending in the idillic Morven Ferry Road location, riders enjoy a scenic tour of the basin using 4*4 and gravel roads, as well as single tracks

The event will be run primarily on the Wakatipu Tails Trust tracks, but also public roads and Shotover Riverside tracks and roads.
Located at Millbrook Resort, registration for the riders will take place on race day Saturday 26th March 2016 from 7am to 8am for Elite and Sport, and from 8am to 9am for Recreational competitors.
Start times vary from categories and wave departures.
Prize giving will be held at the finish line at Morven Ferry Road, all welcome.
A band will entertain until prize-giving and food, coffee and wine will be available.

Following is an extract of general rules for the riders. Do note that the event's policies and rules are constituted of the current rules and policies as per the Tour de Wakatipu website, complemented by competitors newsletters and race director briefing on the day.
All road rules, event signage, directions of event personnel and police must be obeyed at all times. In the absence of police control all normal road rules must be obeyed.
You will at times be cycling on public roads and must share the roads with other users. Riders are asked to help maintain a normal flow of traffic by riding single file when required, and unless passing and use the cordoned off lane where provided.
The advertised course may be changed for safety or other reasons.
The supplied race number must be displayed on the front of the bike
No aero bars or bar extensions, bikes must be serviced and maintained, approved standard helmets must be worn.
You are responsible for your personal belongings at the event.
NO Ipods, MP3 players, headphones etc can be used by competitors on race day.
